A Viola woman was sentenced Wednesday to eight months in prison for bilking people out of more than $12,500 worth of transactions on an Internet auction site.
Christina Phillips, 28, pleaded guilty in March to a mail fraud charge and was sentenced Wednesday by U. S. District Judge Barbara Crabb.
U.S. Attorney Eric Peterson said Phillips would sell electronics, jewelry and other items on eBay, would collect the money from customers but would either send back nothing or fake jewelry in return.
Along with the prison term, Crabb ordered Phillips to pay restitution.
