" I fully agree with Sylvia. Some Christians take the forgiveness issue way too far and will let murderers WALK. Let him find Christ in prison. "

" It will be interesting to see what Our judge sentences him to, here's a similar case, althought not nearly as agravated:
Man gets 15 years for fatal punch
Fond du Lac - A Fond du Lac man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for punching a man who fell, hit his head on a sidewalk and later died.
A jury convicted 27-year-old Travis Seaton in March of first-degree reckless homicide in the death of 53-year-old Keith Rockweit, also of Fond du Lac.
Seaton apologized to Rockweit's family Wednesday, saying he "would sacrifice anything to give you back your father and repair your broken life."
Judge Richard Nuss noted many people spoke highly of Seaton but also that he had been out of prison only 17 months before the November 2006 fight. Seaton was convicted of substantial battery in 1999.
Seaton claimed Rockweit started the fight after he saw Seaton hug a woman he was dating. "

" Has David Heisz asked for forgiveness? Isn't it also Christian to ask for forgiveness before you can possibly receive it? Restorative justice for a self-confessed murderer who said: "Maybe I lost it..." ? How long do you think that will take? "

" A woman friend told me he just needs forgiveness and Restorative Justice. I disagree because it was murder. What do you think of my woman frined's Christain Forgiveness message? She said "we all sin" and we all need forgivemness" and she said that Restorative Justice is called for in this case with full forgiveness between the families and friends. I disagree with her when it comes to violent crimes! "

" I find it interesting that you think because someone disagrees with your wish to justify your particular choice of illegal drugs that you think they have "rage." What I have is disgust and a complete lack of patience with people who continuously stoop to any level to try to justify what they do and claim it doesn't harm anyone, even when there are facts that prove they are wrong. Different degrees of harm is still harm.
As far as changing the system, you are the one who wants to change the "system." Marijuana use is illegal. Personally, I don't believe in being under the influence of anything that impairs a persons ability to think or act clearly. No, I have never driven under the influence of ANYTHING, not ever. Believe that or not, it's the truth. If you actually read my posting, I said being under the influence of ANYTHING is wrong, and since you can't seem to comprehend what I'm saying, that includes alcohol. I do not wish to turn this forum concerning Kelly's death into a forum over the tiresome marijuana debate. That apparently is your agenda. As I said, his death was a tragedy and as I have already said, was needless. That was what this story and subsequent postings was supposed to be about. This is about Kelly, his life, his death, and hopefully preventing needless tragedies in the future. "

" You nedd an outlet for your rage, or you need to fight the system. Perhaps you could channel your rage to change the plea agreement, to make it unavailable to murders period. To attack me shows your lack of self control, I think alcohol is the root of MANY evils in Wisconsin. Take a look at the front page of Sunday's La Crosse paper, Wisconsin ranks no.1 in Alcohol impact. Check it out and then respond to my comment. The way folks in Wisconsin drink tells me it is no surprise when five year olds out sledding get murdered by drunk drivers and guys like Kelly get murdered by drunken fools. No, I don't drink, I smoke the green to unwind at home. I don't drive I don't risk others lives with my behavior. How many social drinkers can say the same? I am very sorry for Kelly and all others harmed by the big KING alcohol. Do you drink and drive? EVER "

" It is inconceivable how you could take a man's death and such an idiotic comparison to try to promote legalizing marijuana. A man is dead, needlessly and tragically so. Any person who commits a crime under the influence of ANYTHING shows lack of judgement twice, both in intentionally choosing to use any substance that takes then to be out of control in any way and then again in committing the crime. I realize by what you wrote and how your wrote it, that it's hard for you; but try concentrating on the REAL issues, will you? It is unbelievable the depths that some people will sink to justify their behavior. How do you think Kelly's family feels that you're trying to use his death in such a selfish way? If you were trying to be a poster child for your "cause" you did not succeed. "

" If David A. Heisz had been high on pot he would never have beat Kelly to death, he would have been too mellow. He most likely would not have been in a bar if he had been high. Is that why pot is illegal, because it would damage the liquor and beer industry? HMMMMM "

" Appears to me the murder was no accident and it was intentional.Heisz was intoxicated so why isn't that part of the factors in the crime? He should not get a plea agreement! What in the world is this county coming to? "
sylvia wrote on Jul 1, 2008 11:16 PM:
" This is obscene! I question why a plea bargain even came into the case. What could have possibly changed it from a Class B to a Class D felony when nothing about the case changed at all? And how can this David Heisz be free all this time to sit around watching the sun rise & set every day in this beautiful valley while the rest of our hearts keep breaking at the absence of the man he took away? "
Why Was This a Plea Agreement wrote on Jul 1, 2008 2:04 PM:
" I would like to know why this crime, and therefore the maximum sentence, was reduced by a plea bargain. The maximum jail term is 25 years? Yes, it's a very long time, but how much is a life worth? I imagine Kelly would have liked another 25 years with his family. The bottom line is that a 26-year-old man beat a 50-year old man to death. This was no fight. It was the horrific event where a man was beaten to death while he lay dying on the ground. The man who did this was given a "break" and his punishment reduced, because he told the truth for admitting what he did? There was NO question what he did. Why in the world should he get ANY kind of a break. This was an intentional act of murder, it was NOT an accident. Wonder what Kelly's family feels when they see this man get a "break" when they have lost Kelly forever.
Many people wrote that justice would not be served in this county. I did not want to believe them. Unfortunately, it appears they were right. "
